The Hobie Island Club is a place to meet other Hobie Mirage Adventure Island and Hobie Mirage Tandem Island owners to share passions for the waterways and oceans of our world.
Here in Queensland we have a very active Island club that conducts sail events each month and offers new sailors instructions and guidance to get the most out of their new Island.
Ride the wind: A roller-furling, vertically battened mainsail provides lift, a retractable centerboard prevents lateral slip, and the larger amas tuck parallel against the rotomolded polyethylene hull for docking. Multiple hatches, on-deck stowage and Vantage CT Seating encourage multi-day adventures, and the MirageDrive with Glide Technology offers paddle-free locomotion when the wind scatters, making it easy to get home. The “AI” is an exceptional bluewater-capable fishing platform. Equip the accessory trampoline kit for walk-around stability. Flexible too; use it with just a single ama or leave the sail at home to pedal or paddle.
Fast, fun and versatile, the Hobie Mirage® Adventure Island gives you options. Detach the akas and amas and you have a super-quick, super-fun kayak. Attach the new Aka II die-cast crossbars and ama side floats, step the sailing rig and you have a stable sailing craft whose seafaring heritage stretches back to the South Pacific. A roller-furling, vertically battened mainsail makes reducing sail a snap and the MirageDrive® provides power when the wind is light or when you’re kayaking. A daggerboard prevents lateral slip, the upgraded dynamic rudder assembly provides plenty of helm control in a breeze and the amas easily fold against the hull to simplify negotiating tight spots or docking.
