Blast From the Past ! Hobie 16 ‘s in the surf after a days racing !
The local surf break called Millers in Port Elizabeth was a great place to play after a days racing in Algoa Bay (now called Nelson Mandela Bay).
These were taken during the Hobie 16 Nationals in 2005. The beach we sailed off was know as “Hobie Beach”! The Orange,Red and Yellow sails is yours truely, the White with “Robberg Seafoods” is Blaine Dodds and the other White sails was a German couple, Stephan and Katrin Wiese-Doese who came out to enjoy some summer sailing and train for the Hobie 16 Worlds later in the year !!
With the Hobie 16 ‘s in the surf, ” No surfers were harmed during our the surfing ” although a few were not too happy !
Hobie Cats lined up on the beach are always a great sight and a few shots from the racing are included to show it was not all PLAY !
