We have an enormous week ahead of us with Mal and Chris heading off to sail the Hobie® Wildcat World Championships in Holland and the Gold Coast round of the Hobie Bream Series this weekend, throw a delivery in the middle from Hobie Cat Australia – we are in for a busy one! No complaints though; we love what we do and we work hard and yes- this allows us all to play hard!
While I know we all have great expectations of Mal and Chris to dominate the field in Holland, I took the opportunity to ask Mal how he thought they would go (in between his busy training schedule in preparation for the Worlds…), his response;
There certainly won’t be any domination on our behalf, but we do intend to give it our best. The Wildcat really is a pretty wild bit of gear when its windy, so I will relying on Chris’ youth, fitness and strength to pull us through if the breeze gets up. We both enjoy the sheer speed and the challenge of racing in the pack. We just hope we can see which way they went! It’s a Hobie regatta…it will be fun either way.
The Gold Coast round of the Hobie Kayak Bream series is shaping up well – 49 anglers currently registered and growing! We usually like to play off each store (Kawana & Rivergate) in these competitions to take home bragging rights and this round is no different. Billy from Kawana will have the upper hand, being the only employee capable of fishing both days – Rivergate’s Cal and Koji will be there on Sunday to ensure Rivergate keeps hold of the bragging rights until the next round at Mooloolaba…time will tell. We are also hoping for a strong turnout from our great customer base with many familiar names already entered. We are looking forward to a great weekend!
Have a Hobie week!
