If you purchase a new or used Hobie from Sunstate Hobie, you can rest in the knowledge that when it comes time to sell or upgrade, I can assist by trading in, or consignment-selling your boat for you at realistic market value.
When you buy a used Hobie from Sunstate Hobie, you can be assured that the boat is complete and in good going order. If you need assistance with set-up or on-going support, it is all part of the service.
I specialize in selling quality reliable complete packages. I generally only re-sell boats which I have earlier sold. I do not sell ancient boats that are prone to cause trouble. Usually I know the complete history of the boats I sell and can give the prospective buyer an honest and unbiased condition report and valuation. With the benefit of many years of Hobie sailing experience, I am well informed to give you the best advice on which model is most suited to your needs.
If you need a demonstration sail before you venture off by yourself, that can be arranged on the lake here.
Hobie Cats usually have good resale value because of their durability and versatility. More importantly Hobie cats have resaleability due to their reliability, longevity, parts back-up and availability. The value of a Hobie is determined by its age and condition.
Later models have incorporated many small improvements over recent years like welded mesh tramps, integrated track crossbars, improved main and jib traveller cars, dyneema ropes, carbon rudder blades, improved rig tensipon and downhaul systems, improved rudder gudgeons. These improved components not only offer increased performance but reduced wear and tear and of course maintenance.
The best advice I can give is to purchase the best Hobie that you can afford initially, rather than take on a project that will require lots of parts and work and probably not increase in value. Sure, we can supply the parts but it is foolish to "fit gold taps in a grass hut". Before you purchase a "renovator's dream", be sure that you have the tools and know-how to get it up to operating condition. Over and over again, we see renovator projects go bad. It is way cheaper in the long run to buy a better boat up front than to constantly throw money at a project. Well-maintained Hobies need very little maintenance!
