The Lanai

The Lanai is small, sporty and nimble. The Hobie Lanai glides smoothly and efficiently, despite its diminutive waterline measurement. A clever, rotomolded polyethylene hull maximizes form stability while minimizing drag, and the boat’s clean deck layout emphasizes paddling bliss while stripping all unnecessary clutter. The Lanai’s 9-foot bow-to-stern length is ideal for shorter paddlers but it also accommodates taller kayakers thanks to its molded foot braces. And at only 23kg, the Lanai is easy to car-top, trailer or even walk to the beach. It has surprising capacity and stability, yet it paddles well and is easy to load or store when the day is done. For this reason Riverlife Adventure Centre chose to equip their Brisbane River operation with a fleet of Hobie Lanais.

The Kona

The Hobie Kona is the ideal two-person paddle kayak. The Kona is a round peg that fits many different holes: in two-person configuration, it provides a stable ride and snappy, spin-in-a-second performance; when paddling alone, the boat’s molded center seat keeps the boat sitting on her lines. The Kona’s rotomolded polyethylene hull couples a wide beam with a relatively short waterline, delivering the responsive, stable performance usually found on longer boats. Carrying handles and on-hull paddle storage simplify portaging, and the deluxe, adjustable padded seats support your back and encourage longer excursions. An optional third seat can be fitted for a “child” or a single seat can be fitted in the central position for controlled single paddling. Thanks to its clever design, the Kona pairs a short waterline with the width normally found on bigger boats, giving you a stable ride and snappy manoeuvrability. The level rails make for easy handling and storage when your day on the water is done.

Its impressive payload and smart deck configuration provide plenty of space for crew members and equipment, and the center seat ensures proper balance for solo outings.

With its long sleek waterline, stable hull, great tracking and the ability to haul 249kg is the perfect family Kayak. While this hull accommodates two, it can be paddled by one using the moulded-in centre-seat position.
