Hobie Sailing News
The annual Bad News Regatta will be raced off Currumbin Beach, Gold Coast on the 9th, 10th and 11th of June. A memorial for the late Bob ‘Bad News’ Hughes who was well known and respected in the Hobie® Cat scene both in Australia and abroad. His contribution to Hobie sailing is remembered at this event.
We recommended this Regatta for those that love a laugh and competitive sailing (and maybe surfing waves and cleaning up the occasional surfer!)
The South East Queensland Hobie Sailing group is holding a social sail event this Sunday (3rd December) at Bongaree, Bribie Island. With roughly 20 boats already attending, it should be a great day on the water for all the Hobie Cat owners and friends/family.
Mal and Trish will be there (yes, sailing too) and Mal is going to run a ‘refresher’ course on the Hobie Cats to hopefully assist those who have any questions or queries on their boats.

Over 100,000 Hobie Cats are sailing around the world in huge Hobie fleets and regattas.
Through the social and racing activities of Hobie fleets, members have an opportunity to participate in activities designed to enhance the quality of their recreational time, and to contribute to a spirit of friendship that has graced the sport of Hobie Cat sailing since 1967. Sailors everywhere have come to call this unique affinity “The Hobie Way of Life”.
